Hendrick Technical Solutions (HTS) is seeking a motivated Design & Testing Engineer Intern to support ongoing defense and advanced mobility projects. The intern will work alongside our engineering team to assist in concept development, CAD design, prototype to finished product design, and field testing of mechanical and electrical platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Help prepare test reports, data collection, presentations, and technical documentation
• Assist with CAD modeling, drafting, and design documentation for components and assemblies
• Support prototype builds, fit checks, and hands-on assembly of critical subcomponents
• Participate/conduct system and component testing, including data collection and analysis for reports
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, and business development) to solve design and integration challenges
• Assist in troubleshooting design or process issues discovered during testing.
• Follow standard operating procedures and safety requirements in shop/test environments.

Learning & Development

• Gain exposure to industry-standard tools (CAD software, simulation tools, data acquisition systems).
• Learn about product lifecycle from concept through validation and release.
• Develop an understanding of engineering standards, codes, and best practices.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field
• Basic proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Catia, or Siemens NX)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Comfortable in both office and shop environments; hands-on skills a plus
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Ability to lift up-to 50 lbs.

Internship Details

• Location: Charlotte, NC
• Duration: Up to 12 months
• Minimum hr. Requirement: 25 hrs. per week
• Working hrs.: M-F, 7a-4p
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Paid internship with opportunity for extension or full-time placement

This role subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements and as such, U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident or U.S. Person Status Required.
