Job Description

Our client, a leading civils and utilities contractor, is seeking a Design Manager to join their team based in West Dublin, overseeing the delivery of water infrastructure projects including pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, and treatment facilities. This role involves managing internal and external design teams, ensuring compliance with Irish Water standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in integrating design and construction activities, driving project efficiency and quality. To be successful, the preferred candidate will possess strong technical design experience, excellent project coordination skills, and a background in water infrastructure delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the design process for water infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, and treatment facilities.
• Coordinate internal and external design teams, ensuring compliance with project specifications, Irish Water standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and review technical designs, drawings, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and constructability.
• Liaise with project managers, site teams, and subcontractors to integrate design and construction activities.
• Conduct design risk assessments, ensuring all health, safety, and environmental considerations are met.
• Manage project design schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure on-time project delivery.
• Support tendering and bid processes by preparing technical documentation and design inputs.
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships with clients, local authorities, and regulatory bodies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and technical standards.

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years’ experience in water infrastructure design and project management.
• Proven experience delivering projects in line with Irish Water or similar utility standards.
• Strong knowledge of design software and tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or equivalent.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
