Job Description

Ledcor is looking for a seasoned Design Project Engineer to lead the technical delivery of major heavy civil projects. In this role, you’ll manage design deliverables, drive constructability and coordination reviews, and proactively identify and resolve design risks. You’ll oversee environmental due diligence, permitting, and approvals while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.

You’ll also manage technical documentation workflows, support subcontractors with clear direction, and ensure all design outputs meet required quality and project standards. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional with strong communication skills, deep design management expertise, and proficiency in BIM and modern collaboration tools.

This position will be site based at our Oshawa, ON location to support the Bowmanville Expansion which will have a lasting impact on the local community

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage, review and track timely receipt of design deliverables from the client’s designer
  • Ensure the Construction Documentation (drawings and specifications) are reviewed for constructability and in coordination with temporary works and contractors means and methods
  • Ensure key design scope gaps and risks are identified and shared with the project management team, pro-actively lead, allocate tasks and track the resolution of said risks utilizing internal resources as well as the Client and Designer’s teams.
  • Manage Environmental Due Diligence requirements in preparation for site mobilization, coordinating with Construction team, Client and (AHJs) to ensure approvals are at hand in line with construction schedule
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders and Authorities Having Jurisdictions AHJs (MTO, Region of Durham, City of Oshawa, CPKC) during design reviews, permitting and licensing
  • Manage, review and track timely receipt of temporary design deliverables from sub-consultants and subcontractors to ensure the project implementation in accordance with permanent design.
  • Provide direction and technical support to operational staff and subcontractors
  • Manage the Design and Technical documents distribution, Request for Information and any other technical processes
  • Ensure the project deliverables are delivered in accordance with the specified design and quality standards
  • Prepare/ supervise the preparation of technical submittals to the Client and subcontractors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related disciplines
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy civil design management /technical role on large construction projects
  • Experience dealing with Environmental Due Diligence pre and post-construction requirements
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and work plans
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with BIM software, Bluebeam, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite

Working Conditions:

  • This is a site-based position in Oshawa, ON

Compensation

$114,750.00 - $153,000.00

This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
