We are seeking a Robust Design Process Engineer to serve as a primary driver of engineering design process excellence within our commercial fire engineering organization. This role bridges technical design, quality engineering, and technical leadership to ensure products are innovative, compliant, and robust throughout their lifecycle.
You will evaluate and improve engineering design processes, define and deploy robust design standard work, and build organizational capability in risk management and reliability engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support the design and verification of complex products from concept through full-scale production, ensuring consistent application of robust design principles.
Own, review, improve, document, and deploy robust design standard work across the product development lifecycle, including DFM, DFA, and DFR.
Mentor, train, and coach design engineers on robust design methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, technical rigor, and learning.
Lead and support risk management activities, including FMEA, to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate technical risk.
Define training needs and ensure engineering teams are competent in technical risk management and robust design practices.
Participate in and influence design reviews, simulations (FEA, CFD), and testing activities, using data to continuously improve design standards and practices.
Partner cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and marketing to ensure design requirements are effectively integrated across all functions.
Support compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and certification requirements relevant to commercial fire protection products.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: 7–10+ years of experience in engineering design, including demonstrated technical leadership or process ownership.
Technical Skills:
Experience with robust design and reliability methodologies (DFR, Six Sigma, FMEA).
Proficiency in data analysis and process mapping tools.
Experience supporting simulation and test-based design validation.
Leadership & Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Proven ability to mentor engineers and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
Strategic mindset with continuous improvement orientation.
Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create technical documentation and deliver effective training.
Global Experience:
Experience working with global teams across multiple time zones is a plus.
