Reporting to the Head of Category, the Assistant Design Manager will support the development and delivery of New Product Development (NPD) projects within the global EC, L&AB category. This role requires strong collaboration across global teams and the ability to influence stakeholders to keep projects on track. You will help coordinate activities across RDD, Operations, and Commercial to meet challenging timelines. Some of your responsibilities include:
Acting as a key project contributor, bringing energy and commitment to support project success.
Assisting in preparing and presenting project updates and direction to senior stakeholders.
Supporting the definition and tracking of project deliverables for each build phase.
Ensuring adherence to Dyson’s standards for quality, safety, and compliance.
Coordinating with Global Engineering & Operations, Quality, Finance, and Commercial teams to maintain governance and milestone progress.
Monitoring operational expenditure and product cost to help achieve financial targets.
Contributing to category future planning by assessing technical opportunities and presenting findings to senior management.
Helping set goals aligned with Dyson and EC blueprints, and tracking progress against these goals.
Supporting the establishment of consistent processes and infrastructure for effective team collaboration.
At least a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Mechatronics).
More than 5 years of experience in design and product development with good track record, working on complex and challenging technical problems with DFM, DFA considerations.
Knowledge in Core engineering processes e.g. Requirements Mgmt., Engineering Change Mgmt., Risk & Issue Mgmt., change management, impact analysis, concessions and implementation strategies
Knowledge in the product cost element, Value Analysis & Value Engineering
Has a well-developed ability to collaborate with and influence key project stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes. Able to assemble appropriate cross functional teams and lead them to an aligned conclusion.
Excellent problem solver with an established ability to manage complex technical challenges across a broad range of disciplines e.g. mechanical engineering, electronics, motors, software and connectivity.
Proficient verbal communicator with outstanding presentation skills capable of addressing all levels of the business.
Requiring strong levels of perseverance. Adaptable to change, thrives in a fast-paced environment. A motivator who remains positive in the face of adversity.
Detailed operational and manufacturing knowledge that can influence the direction of project development.
Competent at recording, managing and prioritising project risks. Identifying and escalating decision making where appropriate.
Proven experience in various tooling and manufacturing techniques.
Strong proven track record of project delivery and design leadership.
