Kapitol are now seeking an experienced Design Manager to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex construction projects. Reporting to the Head of Design & Digital Engineering, this role sits at the heart of our project teams, bridging design, digital engineering, and construction to ensure high-quality, compliant, and buildable outcomes.

You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Digital Engineering teams, consultants, and external stakeholders to ensure design deliverables are accurate, coordinated, compliant, and aligned with construction programs - the Kapitol Way

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Management: Lead and coordinate all design activities from Design Development through to IFC and building permit stage, ensuring timely, high-quality and compliant design outcomes.
  • Process & Quality Control: Enforce Kapitol design standards and ensure all documentation meets project requirements, Australian codes, and industry best practice.
  • Digital Engineering Interface: Collaborate with Digital Engineering teams to optimise BIM deliverables and ensure seamless integration between design and construction.
  • Programme & Coordination: Develop and manage the design programme, aligning design deliverables with construction schedules in collaboration with Project Managers.
  • Design Handover: Manage the effective handover of coordinated design documentation to site teams to support successful construction delivery.
  • People & Stakeholder Leadership: Lead, mentor, and collaborate with project teams, consultants, and stakeholders to foster strong relationships and project outcomes.

About You

  • Relevant degree in the built environment or design-related disciplines
  • Proven experience working client-side or builder-side on large, complex projects, with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor (alternatively, experience leading design delivery as an Architect on a major project, with demonstrated exposure to construction-phase coordination and builder engagement)
  • Experience engaging with consultants, contractors, and clients in a delivery-focused environment
  • End-to-end project delivery from design development through to construction
  • Strong understanding of Australian codes, standards, and approval processes
  • High-level proficiency with design software and digital tools
