ABOUT THE ROLE

Join Downer’s Networks Services team delivering essential electricity infrastructure across New Zealand. This permanent, full-time opportunity is based in our Auckland office and supports the delivery of design and estimation services across the electricity distribution network. We are open to immediate starters.

As a Design Estimator/Engineer, you will deliver engineering design, estimation, and customer support for both overhead and underground distribution projects. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and contractors to create accurate designs, quotations, and project documentation. Your goal will be to ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

• Deliver design and estimation services for distribution network projects.
• Prepare quotations, cost estimates and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate resources and support project planning and delivery.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement and mentoring within the design team.

ABOUT YOU

You are a practical and solutions-focused engineer or estimator with experience in power distribution networks. You enjoy working across both design and delivery environments, bring strong attention to detail, and are confident engaging with stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.

• Experience in design and estimation within power distribution networks.
• Knowledge of overhead and underground network design and construction.
• Familiarity with Powerco standards and design tools (e.g. Neara desirable).
• Strong communication, organisation and time management skills.

• Proficient in estimating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
