THE OPPORTUNITY

A career-defining opportunity rarely offers all of the following:

Direct connection to the mission. Gain a clear understanding of the business and see how your work directly shapes outcomes. With no unnecessary layers, silos, or bureaucracy, every team member contributes meaningfully to the company's success and has the responsibility to drive real impact.

Growth beyond a single role. At Boston Materials, you are not defined by your past experience or limited by a job description. Working alongside leading experts in the field, you will take on new challenges, broaden your expertise, develop new capabilities, and take ownership of projects that matter – while contributing to the broader success of the organization.

Work on problems that matter. Help solve some of the most pressing challenges in the Advanced Semiconductor, AI Infrastructure, and Advanced Materials industries. Boston Materials offers a rare combination of purpose, autonomy, and impact. We invite you to join us.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design the components that surround and support our thermal interface material inside an electronic package — lids, stiffeners, carriers, shims, seals, standoffs, and the assembly provisions that hold everything in position.
  • Create 3D CAD models and fabrication drawings, and iterate designs against tolerance stack-ups, assembly loads, thermal budgets, and manufacturability feedback.
  • Fabricate, build, and test package mockups to demonstrate design feasibility, including mechanical, thermal, and accelerated reliability testing.
  • Machine parts in house on shop equipment — abrasive waterjet cutting, manual milling, and CNC milling.
  • Assemble and instrument test articles hands-on: material application, fastening to specified loads, thermocouple and sensor placement, and teardown inspection.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze mechanical and thermal test data to support design decisions and identify meaningful trends.
  • Engage machine shops, vendors, and suppliers to source custom parts and hardware — request quotes and technical specifications, incorporate DFM feedback, and track fabrication against project schedules.
  • Author and maintain drawings, design documentation, and assembly work instructions for evolving hardware.
  • Provide general engineering support across the team as project needs change.
