Job Description

IKEA of Sweden offers a vibrant and inclusive culture where ideas are heard, everyone has opportunities to develop new skills, and our shared goal is always to create a better everyday life for the many people.

Within Range Area Seating, we are a diverse group of down-to-earth and straightforward colleagues who share a passion for home furnishing. Together, we develop safe and affordable solutions for a more beautiful, playful and convenient life at home.

You will join an engaged and highly skilled team that is curious about how we can make things better and find simple, smart solutions. Our work focuses on comfort and covers beds, mattresses, sofas and other seating products.

The Comfort Platform team develops solutions that reduce costs, improve products and contribute to a better life at home through standardisation, optimisation and the development of new solutions for beds, sofas and mattresses.

About the role

As a Design Engineer in the Comfort Platform team, you will work with current technologies and new materials. Together with colleagues and partners within and beyond the team, you will develop smart, innovative solutions for the IKEA range in a broader context. You will develop new textiles and comfort solutions and help shape the future roadmap. The role includes developing, verifying and documenting solutions, as well as exploring new ways of working, simulation tools and robust verification methods. The ability to deliver, take ownership and collaborate effectively is central to the role.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with experience and knowledge in textile development, along with a strong understanding of production and materials. You have likely worked within a business area or closely with suppliers in purchasing or sourcing. You have a genuine interest in textiles and upholstered furniture and understand what creates value for customers.

We would welcome the following qualifications:

  • Experience in product development involving textiles for products such as mattresses or upholstered furniture
  • A university degree in textile engineering or equivalent competence
  • Strong knowledge of production and materials, including both knitted and woven textiles
  • Strong knowledge of textile requirements development
  • A commitment to problem-solving and an ability to explore new perspectives
  • Basic knowledge of ARANE
  • Experience working with PLUS documentation
  • Basic knowledge of pattern making
  • Basic knowledge of SolidWorks or other CAD software

You are curious and have the courage to explore new solutions and navigate the unknown. You are motivated to find and create the best technical solutions for our customers, balancing quality and price while considering design and sustainability objectives. IKEA of Sweden is a global work environment, so you need to be fluent in written and spoken English.

Additional information

Please submit your application, including your CV. Instead of a motivational letter we would appreciate if you could answer below questions, in English. We would like to get to know you, so tell us why you are interested in the role and how your experience can contribute. The application deadline is 5th of November.

  • What sparks you to apply to this role?
  • Tell us about your experience and knowledge you have that you believe will be an asset for you in this role?

In this role you will report to Amilia Tångne, Product Engineering Manager. If you have questions about the recruitment process, please contact Recruiter Jonas Levin at jonas.levin@inter.ikea.com.
