Job Category: EngineeringWallace Montgomery is seeking a Highways/Roadway design engineer, with at least 5 years of professional experience, to work in our Fairfax or Richmond, Virginia office. This individual will be exposed to a variety of project types, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. The Design Engineer III will work on complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Primary Functions:
- Prepare engineering design, studies and reports.
- Determine / reviews appropriate application of technical methods of the work and verify compliance with criteria.
- Participate / Reviews the development of engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings and estimates.
- Prepare construction contract documents including final design details, construction drawings, specifications and estimates.
- Participate in presentations such as public meetings.
- Monitor current design trends/methodologies related to their area of expertise.
- Assist in training new employees in using CADD software.
- Client contact on a limited basis.
- Field work as team member for inspections and research for projects.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree or related field
- Professional Engineer License required (VA preferred)
- Experience developing 3D engineered models in Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD) is desired but not required.
- 5-10 years Design Experience
