Ready, Set, Ford. Join the Blue Oval as an Engineering Designer and help shape how millions experience our vehicles. Come and turn your ideas into reality; own CAD in Catia on 3DX and apply full engineering knowledge.
The Engineering Design team is seeking a highly capable and dynamic engineer to join as a key member for the EDS (Electrical Distribution System) group. This role involves the design and development of automotive vehicle Electrical Wiring Harnesses (Low and High Voltage), based on functional requirements and vehicle electrical network architectures; this includes the execution of different custom components to support wire harness routing, retention and assembly strategies, and virtual validation. Our department's goal is to deliver innovative solutions efficiently without compromising on feasibility and quality standards. As a part of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design process from concept to implementation, actively engaging from the initial stages to launch events like DCVs, TTs, PPs, and more. Your role will also involve contributing to continuous improvement projects and fostering innovation and Artificial Intelligence within the organization.
What you'll do...
Proficiently use of CATIA V5 / 3DX (or similar: NX, SolidWorks, etc.) along with Teamcenter & VisMockup to create and manage robust, parametric and associative B2P parts – Wiring Harnesses, metallic and plastic brackets / channels.
Develop high-quality 3D CAD design concepts and alternatives and iterations promptly.
Create and manage assemblies, drawings, motion files etc., as well as the complete vehicle environment with all system interfaces.
Manage BOM (Bill of Materials) structures and Production Release process.
Identify system interfaces and potential design incompatibilities through the correct use of virtual validation tools.
AI enhancement mindset: Use of Artificial Intelligence tools.
Drives for resolution on compatibility, feasibility, and functionality issues, working directly with tool shops and suppliers.
Possesses a strong understanding of feature partitioning and automotive systems, enabling direct collaboration with the extended Product Development (PD) Engineering team to resolve feasibility, attribute, and functional issues.
Apply validation and automation tools as applicable, such as IPS, to enhance efficiency.
Possess knowledge and applies Foundation Core Tools (DFMEA, SCCAF, 5D's).
Designs components in accordance with functional requirements and design rules to meet Program deliverables, utilizing applicable CAD methodologies and drafting standards
Possess in-depth knowledge about EDS (Electric Distribution System) Wiring Harnesses requirements, for both Low and High Voltage applications.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of automotive design environment at both systems and sub-system levels.
Proactively identifies, develops and deploys efficiencies ideas (tools and/or process improvements).
Asks relevant and applicable questions and raises valid concerns.
Communicates in a clear and concise manner with an adequate level of detail.
