The Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and validation of vehicle cabin systems, including sheet metal structures, plastic interior and exterior components, and cabin assemblies. The role requires expertise in cabin architecture, formed sheet metal design, plastic component development, manufacturing processes, and cross-functional integration to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable cabin solutions.

Your Impact

  • Design and develop cabin structures, interior/exterior trim, and integrated cabin systems for new product development and product improvement projects, ensuring functionality, performance, and operator comfort.
  • Create and release 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation, while designing sheet metal and plastic components with a focus on manufacturability, cost, quality, durability, and tooling feasibility.
  • Support cabin integration activities by ensuring proper fit, interface, and compatibility with vehicle structures, electrical systems, HVAC, controls, glazing, and other vehicle subsystems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional global teams, including manufacturing, suppliers, quality, purchasing, simulation, and testing, to resolve design issues, support prototype builds, validation testing, and engineering change implementation.
  • Drive continuous improvement and design excellence through design reviews, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, risk assessments, cost and weight optimization, quality enhancement, and overall product performance improvements

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • Design & Development experience in the area of Cabin, Trims, Plastics, Formed Sheetmetal.
  • 4+ years of experience in Creo and Windchill.
  • Exposure to Sheetmetal, Plastic, Cabin interiors.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 2 to 6 years of work experience in product engineering portfolio in a Global Organization.
  • Proficiency in GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and drafting standards.
