The Opportunity

The Design Engineer is expected to complete their projects on time, on budget and with minimum supervision. You will see a broad spectrum of engineering work including design updates to our product lines, lean initiatives, research & development and troubleshooting production issues. This role is very cross-functional and involves working closely with the Purchasing, Production, and Sales departments.

The Team

The Design Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine product designs using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and R&D to ensure design feasibility and performance.
  • Conduct design reviews and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Analyze design problems and provide effective solutions.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs.
  • Maintain accurate records of design iterations and changes.
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned by supervisor
  • Follow AGI’s Code of Business Ethics and related compliance policies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T). Preference given to P. Eng. designation
  • 5-10 years relevant experience in engineering with manufacturing industry
  • Experience in mechanical design and metal fabrication process
  • Proficiency with 3D design platforms; Solid Works experience an asset
  • Understanding of mechanical machinery and hydraulic principles preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
