About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Design Drafter - SMP to join our Energy & Industrial Engineering team. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) drafting and design outputs across a range of energy and industrial projects.
Working closely with engineers and project teams, you will be responsible for producing accurate, fit-for-purpose drawings and 3D models while ensuring designs align with project requirements, industry standards, and construction methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed SMP engineering drawings and documentation for renewable energy and industrial projects.
Develop and maintain 3D models, general arrangements, piping, structural and plant layouts. Apply engineering standards, drafting principles and design-for-construction methodologies.
Perform basic design calculations and material take-offs to support project delivery and tender activities.
Review and check drafting outputs for technical accuracy and compliance.
Collaborate with engineers, project teams and stakeholders to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
Support business development, tendering and operational teams with technical drafting expertise.
What You'll Bring
Minimum 5 years' experience in detail drafting within industrial, processing plant, power, energy or infrastructure environments.
Experience producing SMP drawings and 3D models for complex engineering projects.
Proficiency in drafting and modelling software such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, Advanced Steel, Tekla, Inventor, SolidWorks, Navisworks or similar.
Strong understanding of design-for-construction principles and multidisciplinary project delivery.
Relevant Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative project team.
