Job Description

Position Summary

The Design Drafter is responsible for creating and maintaining 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (Revit) drawings in accordance with ISEC standards for both planned projects and fast-turn requests. The position supports the Construction and Science & Technology branches of Engineering through the development of submittal drawings, installation drawings, presentation models, schedules, takeoffs, and project documentation. This role works closely with Operations, Project Managers, Engineering leadership, and outsourced engineering resources to ensure accurate and timely project execution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and revise submittal, fabrication, and installation drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and construction details.
  • Develop project details in accordance with project scope and customer requirements.
  • Produce drawings and revisions utilizing AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Execute fast-turnaround drawing requests and project revisions.
  • Assist Operations with Design Assist layouts and floor plan reviews.
  • Create Revit-based models supporting project and sales initiatives.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings and coordination activities.
  • Verify accuracy of schedules, takeoffs, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate deliverables with internal teams and outsourced engineering partners.
  • Review engineering instructions, project documents, and design requirements for completeness and compliance.
  • Assist with workload coordination, scheduling, and drafting resource planning.
  • Support development and maintenance of drafting templates, standards, and processes.
  • Collaborate with Construction and Science & Technology teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to minimum qualifications)

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 1-4 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Developing understanding of AWI and SEFA standards.
  • Understands project plans and specifications.
  • Intermediate knowledge of drafting principles and detailing practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • 0 - 4 years of experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Basic knowledge of ISEC products, services, processes, and projects
  • Completes all job tasks in a timely manner with high level of accuracy and quality
  • Ability to answer questions from outsourcing engineering partners
  • Intermediate knowledge of drafting details
  • Understands project plans & specifications
  • Independently performs most assignments with instruction
  • Works autonomously at times
  • Seeks guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisor approval for changes in standards
