Designer Director – Japan/ Korea Markets

P&G is looking for a highly creative and proactive design leader; someone that is eager to take on challenges, introduce consumer inspiring fresh ideas, and implement innovative approaches!

You will work both independently and collaboratively, manage a multi-talented team to deliver across multiple touch points including branding, packaging, and digital through partnerships with Marketing, Consumer Insights, Sales, and external agencies. Our in-house design team is involved in end to end range of work— from package design and art direction, to digital design, including print execution production of key deliverables.

Your Team

You will report to the Senior Design Director.

· Drives cascade and execution of design strategies in team / organization; helps frame strategies.

· Build strong working relationships and drumbeats with Multi-functional team members.

· Proactively identifies and leads developments of new ideas, techniques, procedures, services, or products.

· Co-create and refine designs to adapt to the nuances and challenges of local markets, driving winning brand propositions

· Accomplishes results through managing & leading team; allocates individuals as per business needs, strengths & aspirations.

· Lead work with speed & flexibility in uncertain circumstances.

· Pioneer-mindset and curiosity with the end-goal in mind.

Job Responsibilities

· Represent design in matrix organisation to influence leadership team, ensuring designs are on brand, and are elevated and of high quality.

· Lead and oversee multiple initiatives from design strategy to execution while fully articulating the local consumer needs and business context.

· Develop in partnership with the internal and external teams to create consumer winning concepts across touchpoints based on campaign needs. Projects include (but not limited to) innovative package design, digital design, brand identity/ assets creation, photography etc.

· Understand and translate consumers insights and business needs into consumer appealing design solutions

· Coach and mentor a team of designers and print production managers/ specialists to ensure high level of design quality and efficient workflow. At the same time growing team’s capabilities.

· Own and drive design prioritises of team’s activities, including work processes, budgets, stewardship/ tools to deliver on design teams’ agenda.

· Lead assigned projects to ensure goals delivered are timely and on budget – while maintaining strong communication with key partners along the way.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications

· Minimum Bachelor degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or a similar field

· At least 10—18 years agency/design studio/in-house experience in graphic design, art direction, digital design, and package design within the beauty industry.

· Design leadership skills to represent design in key decisions making processes

· Experience leading a team and external agency partners.

· In touch with latest trends and culture.

· Experience working on Japan market required

· Strong understanding in basic print production management

· Sophisticated, visual design aesthetic.

· Proficient on Mac platform; Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and 3-D drawing programs are a plus.

· Unwavering attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership.

· Strong communication and storytelling skills, both verbal and written.

· Ability to problem solve and mitigate challenges ahead of due dates.

· Consistently deliver excellence in the work and encourage team members.

· Strategic and thoughtful in approach to design and branding.

· Strong project management and organization skills.

· Proficiency in Japanese language is preferred
