Design Controls Engineer

Vertiv are recruiting for a Design Controls Engineer for Modular Data Centers & Largescale AI factories. The Design Controls Engineer is responsible for end-to-end Building Management System (BMS) design and documentation for VERTIV's modular Data Center and AI factory Solutions. The Design Controls Engineer owns the BMS documentation set (including “For Construction” and “As Built”), specifies equipment and materials, and supports setup and configuration of BMS hardware such as field devices, network switches, PLCs, servers, and operator workstations. The Design Controls Engineer also supports Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), internal testing in VERTIV's Prefab Factory in Rugvica, Zagreb, and on-site commissioning across the EMEA region. Strong, hands-on experience with CODESYS (or similar IEC 61131-3 platforms) is required.

What kind of work will you be doing?

  • Developing of project conceptual and detailed design.
  • Based on input data (information, requirements, standards), development of electrical project documentation: riser and network diagrams, I/O lists, application and functional diagrams, sequence of operations, fire alarm system design drawings, security system drawings and descriptions, instructions, material submittals, presentations and marketing materials etc.
  • During design follow and take into consideration international, national and company standards and good engineering practices.
  • Use knowledge and experience to fulfill requirements given by project tasks.
  • Participating in kick-off meeting, regular project team meetings, and on-site coordination meetings.
  • Reporting project status to Project Lead Engineer and Project Manager.
  • Proactive cooperation with all team members during project execution.
  • Controlling and supporting BMS integrators.
  • Initiating RFI („Request for Information “) in cases where additional clarification is needed.
  • Development of defined documents according to Document list (DLIST).
  • Verification and approval of workshop documentation developed by subcontractors.
  • Specifying Bill of Material and services required for project execution.
  • Specification of necessary certificates for materials needed to be ordered.
  • Supporting suppliers with additional information during bidding phase of sourcing (offer submitting).
  • Providing technical approval for received supplier offers.
  • Providing technical support to subcontractors and installers during production/assembly.
  • Cooperation with Manufacturing and Site deployment engineering team.
  • Cooperation with Site Manager during assembly, providing technical solutions to raised issues.
  • Cooperation with Quality Control during quality control of components/systems and assembly on Site.
  • Cooperation with Commissioning engineer on testing documentation development.
  • Participation on internal testing and FAT.
  • Development of installation and maintenance documentation.
  • In factory and on-site commissioning and deployment of BMS

What will make you successful?

  • Education – electrical engineer (automation).
  • English language – fluent.
  • Software –AutoCAD, EPLAN, MS Office, CodeSys.
  • Technical skills – programming, SCADA, PLC, DDC systems, communication protocols, ethernet networks.
  • Other skills – independent, attention to details, problem solving, organization, creativity, team work
