Job Description

With eight design studios worldwide, chances are you've encountered our work. We specialise in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, and urban design. Our diverse, multi-disciplinary team brings together a wealth of skills and perspectives that unlock the economic, social, and cultural potential of projects.

Across our studios we connect insight and creativity, creating a better future by designing the world’s best places – places people love, is what drives us.

At Hassell, we're dedicated to sustainability and regenerative design. Our designers play a pivotal role in shaping a better future for communities and our planet. Join us in making a lasting impact.

We’re looking for a technically strong architect or Revit specialist who enjoys getting into the detail — understanding how buildings come together, how requirements are met, and where things can go wrong.

This isn’t a pure design role.

It’s for someone who likes solving problems, asking questions, and improving how projects are delivered.

About the role

You’ll sit at the centre of major infrastructure projects — reviewing drawings, challenging assumptions, and making sure designs meet the standards they need to.

Think:

  • large-scale urban transport projects
  • complex stakeholder requirements
  • multiple disciplines needing alignment

You’ll work closely with architects, engineers and project leaders to spot issues early, guide decisions, and keep projects on track.

What you’ll actually do

  • Review architectural drawings and Revit models to check technical accuracy and compliance
  • Translate complex project requirements into clear direction for design teams and contractors
  • Identify gaps, clashes and risks before they become problems on site
  • Work across disciplines to align architecture, structure and services
  • Manage design departures — understanding what’s changing, why, and the impact
  • Support teams to meet Australian Standards, BCA and accessibility requirements
  • Turn complex technical issues into clear, practical advice
  • Contribute to how we improve technical delivery across projects

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Background in architecture or a technical design role
  • Strong Revit and documentation experience
  • Confidence reading and interrogating detailed drawing packages
  • Experience on complex projects (transport, infrastructure, health, large public buildings)
  • Good understanding of codes and standards (BCA, Australian Standards, DSAPT)
  • Someone who asks “does this actually work?” — not just “is this drawn correctly?”
  • Clear communicator who can work across different teams

Why this role is different

  • You’ll influence major projects without needing to be the lead designer
  • You’ll work across multiple disciplines — not sit in one lane
  • You’ll build deep technical expertise on complex infrastructure
  • You’ll be part of a team that values quality, not just speed

Additional Information

Our team enjoys a wide range of benefits to support their development and well-being:

  • 16 weeks paid parental leave for both primary and secondary carers.
  • A progressive flexible work policy that allows hybrid work, location flexibility and work pattern flexibility
  • Inter-studio transfer opportunities
  • Wellbeing benefits
  • Development and training opportunities, including access to online training programs and our People Coach program.
  • Study assistance.

About Hassell

We are a leading international design practice with studios in Asia, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Our purpose is to create a better future by designing the world’s best places – places people love.

Our design values are shared globally across all our studios, by the talented people who work in them: architects, interior designers, landscape architects, urban designers, planners and specialist consultants.

We work across a broad range of scales, from the interior design of a boutique retail store through to major public architecture and strategic urban planning for cities. And we work together in integrated design teams because they produce the best outcomes for our clients.

Our focus is on people and how we create better, more meaningful experiences for them. We do that through creative, holistic thinking, a deep knowledge base and a rigorous design process.

We judge the success of the buildings and places we design by the way people use and enjoy them - the clients who commission them, the people who inhabit them.

We are a Certified B Corp.
