Design Center Operator is part of the Design Department. Design Center Operator develops formulations of printing inks and coatings for the proofing press with the requirements of Automotive and LivTec design under specifications and framework conditions (quality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to deadlines) and takes on the role of Plant Support for the Winchester, VA site.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Proofing Machine- Formulation of printing inks and varnishes for the proofing machine, operation of the proofing machine, assembly and conversion of process units (e.g. roller change), production of samples from the provision of raw materials to the dispatch of the finished and semi-finished goods, implementation and monitoring of all measures to ensure the product quality of samples and test sets on the proofing machine. Planning and coordination of tests and production orders including data processing.

Documentation - Documentation of tests and production orders. Act as an effective team member to communicate daily tasks and instructions.

Project Function- Plant Support for Winchester, VA, and in Support of the responsible Designers Global in the production of test tools and plant tools at the Winchester, VA site. Participation in tests in production, Evaluation of color, grain and gloss. Color acceptance of laboratory samples in the color laboratory and support in the production of base in the technical center.

Process - As a Design Center Operator you will function as an active team member within the production line by maintaining quality specifications, inputting manufacturing data, viewing SOP’s, and maintaining operation of various equipment and machinery depending upon the department’s job specifications.

Safety - Will be required to maintain a clean and safe environment at all times by following good housekeeping practices. Safety awareness in daily work to ensure a safe work environment at all times is a vital part of your role. The position requires use of PPE which includes safety shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection; the use of a respirator may be required for specific job departments.

Time Management- In this role you will be required to accurately meet production schedules, verify materials when needed, and to troubleshoot and report issues when they arise. Must maintain a good attendance record, be well organized, able to multi-task, and be a teamplayer.

THE ENVIRONMENT

Safety is our highest priority and safety procedures and guidelines must always be adhered to. Applicants must be able to work in a manufacturing industrial environment and be able to wear personal protective equipment such as safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. The use of a respirator may be required for specific job departments.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

Education / Certification - It is desired but not required to have a minimum of one year experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

****Must be able to pass a Color Test.****

It is important to have a very good color perception for success in this position.

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO STAND OUT

Professional Experience - It is desired but not required to have:

  • Minimum of one year experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Background in one or more of the following areas: Machine Operator with plastics processing experience (e.g. in production Continental SSL); Printing machinery experience; ColorMatcher/Colorist; or other equivalent desirable experience within plastics manufacturing
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge in plastic dyeing
  • Experience in repeat printing
  • Sound knowledge of surfaces (color, colorimetry, grain, gloss)
  • Ability to work with the colorimetric measuring systems as well as all equipment and machines in the color laboratory and in production
