Priory Hospital Middleton St George has an opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager to join our team.
Set in spacious and relaxing grounds, Priory Hospital Middleton St George, located in Darlington, County Durham, is a specialist inpatient service for adults with mental health issues, complex needs and behaviours that challenge. We are dedicated to supporting people to transfer effortlessly between the most appropriate care, meeting individual needs, enabling recovery and re-engagement within the community, and maximising life opportunities.
We accept referrals from a wide variety of public sector organisations throughout the UK, including special hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, prisons, courts, low secure units (LSUs), medium secure units (MSUs), forensic lead commissioners, social services, NHS Mental Health Trusts, GPs, the police and others.
What you'll be doing

- Provide senior clinical leadership and act as a regular shift leader on the ward.
- Support the Ward Manager with the day-to-day running of the ward and deputise when required
- Lead and support nursing staff through supervision, development, training and performance management
- Act as Named Nurse for a group of patients, supporting their care, risk management and therapeutic interventions.
- Work closely with the MDT, junior nurses and students to promote high-quality patient care and positive outcomes.

What you'll bring to the role
Essential for the role
- Active NMC registration with current revalidation.
- Minimum 18 months–2 years’ post-registration experience.
- Clinical supervision experience.
- Experience within a relevant clinical speciality.
- Evidence of ongoing CPD and leadership development.
- Good communication and IT skills.
The following experience would be beneficial
- Previous experience in a senior nursing or leadership role.
- Experience supervising and developing nursing staff.
- Experience supporting junior nurses and student nurses.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Trained Assessor/Supervisor qualification.
