Deputy Programme Test Manager and Test Architect

Location: Farnborough or Whiteley, Hampshire

Salary: £ 75,800 - £99,800

The Role: (example)

The Deputy Test Manager will report into the Programme Test Manager.

The Deputy Programme Test Manager and Test Architect ( Deputy Test Manager) will own test process and best practise accountability for all Test engineering tasks conducted within the Programme. They are supported by Test Leads, who will have specific test leadership responsibilities for a subset of the test organisation within a Government critical national infrastructure programme.

What will I be doing?

The following are the Key Responsibilities for the Deputy Test Manager Role

  • Responsible for the “down and in” aspects of Test management (typically but not exclusively Internal Leidos Stakeholders)
  • Responsible assessing (and where required, course correcting) the Leidos Test Teams adherence to the Programme Test Strategy and supporting artefacts (such as Master Test Plans, Test Process documents, and Test Work Instructions).
  • Supporting the Test team and scheduling Test effort, ensuring estimates are credible and data driven.
  • Supporting Provision of test estimates for resources and test activities with the Programme Test Manager.
  • Identifying current test environment needs and future needs based on Technical risks and our change roadmap.
  • Acting as alternative Approver for Test Readiness Review (“TRR”) prior to Test entry and Test Exit Reviews (“TER”) from Leidos owned Test Stages (for cases where the Programme Test Manager is unavailable)
  • Supporting Test Readiness Review (“TRR”) prior to Test entry and Test Exit Reviews (“TER”) from Authority owned Test Stages (for cases where the Programme Test Manager is unavailable)
  • Reviews and quality checks of all assured Leidos Test deliverables.
  • Establishing Test Process improvement, and Commons ways of working across the Programme
  • Responsible for Generation of secondary test artifacts enabling test effectiveness (such as Test Design Templates, Test Automation Framework, and Test Process Improvement recommendations)

What does Leidos need from me?

The following are the Key Skills for the Saturn Deputy Test Manager

  • Strong oral and written communication skills – ability to communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Excellent understanding of the Testing Lifecycle and the different types of testing such as Functional, Non-Functional, Positive and Negative and Integration Testing.
  • Able to understand existing Test Process and identify improvements and efficiencies.
  • Experience of creating Test Cases based on requirements and design documents.
  • Experience of authoring and reviewing test deliverables for external stakeholders
  • Experience of Test Management, Leading, Coordination, Planning, Reporting and Test Control.
  • Knowledge or experience with software testing frameworks (e.g. Katalon Studio, Selenium, SoapUI, Junit, DART, or similar) or other Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tools.
  • Knowledge or experience Hybrid (Agile, Iterative and Waterfall) test workload management and bug tracking (e.g. Jira, BitBucket, or similar).
  • Experience working in a regulated environment testing.
  • Self-motivated and willing to speak to colleagues to explore areas of uncertainty
  • An Enabler mind-set, willing to do, then demonstrate, and then empower others to take work forward, rather than retain work and become a bottle neck for progress.
  • A strong understanding of the Cost of Quality, product risk assessment and Test prioritisation
  • Working with large-scale and complex integration programmes.

It would be desirable if you had:

  • Experience of control account management, and or cost management for test
  • Experience of Risk, Assumptions, Issue and Dependency Management
  • Knowledge of non-test specialisms such as Requirements Management, Systems Engineering, Solution Architecture and Service Management

Clearance Requirements: This role requires applicants to be able to hold and maintain UK Security Clearance. You must be a British National and have lived in the UK for minimum 5 years.
