Position Summary

The Deputy Tax Collector II assists with the administration and collection of property taxes and other revenues, provides professional service to taxpayers, maintains accurate financial records, and performs duties in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and county policies.

Examples of duties

? Collect property taxes and other authorized revenues.

? Receive and process payments by cash, check and credit/debit card.

? Assist taxpayers with questions regarding tax bills, payments, balances and delinquent accounts.

? Maintain accurate records of transactions, receipts, deposits, and account balances.

? Prepare daily deposits and reconcile collections in accordance with established procedures.

? Process tax bill adjustments, refunds, releases, and other related documents.

? Assist with delinquent tax collection activities and related correspondence.

? Respond to telephone, email, and in-person inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.

? Maintain confidentiality of taxpayer and financial information.

? Assist with audits, reports, and financial reconciliations.

? Operate office equipment and tax collection software.

? Perform other related duties as assigned by the Tax Collector.

Qualifications

? High school diploma or equivalent.

? Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, cash handling, customer service, or a related field preferred.

? Strong mathematical and organizational skills.

? Proficiency with computers and standard office software.

? Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information.

? Ability to communicate effectively with the public and coworkers.

? Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
