Department: Sheriff Grade: 160 Salary: $22.06/hour Job Duties:

  • Works towards attainment of Missouri Peace Officer Standard Training (POST) Certification while attending a law enforcement training academy which is selected by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
  • This position is eligible for promotion to Deputy Sheriff I once becoming Missouri Class A POST Certified. Recruits who do not successfully complete academy training may be released from employment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED, and vision correctable to 20/20.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age to apply.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older on the date the Recruit takes the Missouri POST license exam which is administered near the time of training academy graduation.
  • Must possess/maintain a valid Missouri Driver's License.
  • Must have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions. Must submit to and pass pre-employment background check, drug screen, motor vehicle record check.
