Status: Part Time, Non-Exempt

Starting Wage:
$25.56/hr.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Records for permanent record clear, complete, correct, and concise reports of assignments and investigations.
  2. Attends training as required.
  3. Understands and follows the mission and vision statement of the Sheriff’s Office.
  4. Regular attendance and punctuality required.
  5. Performs other related duties as may be required or assigned.
  6. Complete transports of in-custody persons to and from the Dodge County Jail.
  7. Maintain secure custody of persons being transported.
  8. Ensure the safety of persons being transported.
  9. Maintains weapons qualifications per the sheriff’s office standards.

REQUIRED JOB COMPETENCIES

  • Proficient skill in criminal and non-criminal investigations, and report writing.
  • Working knowledge of applicable state statutes, county ordinances, and agency policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to function effectively and prioritize functions under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to explain and enforce federal, state, and county laws clearly and courteously.
  • The employee must have the ability to testify in court as a credible and trustworthy witness.

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing, speaking or hearing, using hands to handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Work has standard vision requirements.
  • Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities.
  • Nearly constant time pressure, frequent repetitive activities, frequent work under distractions, frequent high/low temperatures, frequent high stress situations, frequent improper illumination, minimal intense/continuous noise, may be exposed to free flowing blood and communicable disease.
  • May require communicating with persons who are hostile, aggressive, abusive or violent, posing threatening conditions.
