Starting Pay:
• Deputy Sheriff I – Corrections: $29.36–$32.94/hour
• Deputy Sheriff II – Corrections: $30.74–$35.35/hour (requires a minimum of 18 months of certified corrections experience)
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 19 years old to attend POST Academy
• Valid driver’s license (Utah license required within 60 days of hire)
Testing/Interview Process:
Video Exam
Candidates must score at least 70% on each section.
Physical Fitness Test
• 1.5-mile run in 17 minutes or less
• 30-second plank
• 10 push-ups without rest
In-Person Interviews (2–3 Weeks After Testing)
The top 18–25 scoring candidates will be invited to participate in an in-person interview with our hiring panel.
What You’ll Do:
Deputy Sheriffs assigned to Corrections help maintain the safety and security of the Utah County Security Center. Duties include inmate booking, housing, transportation, supervision, and inmate work programs.
Additional Employment Requirements:
• Pass background investigation
• Polygraph examination
• Psychological evaluation
• Medical exam and drug screening
• Become POST certified within 12 months of hire
