Position Location and Details

AMI Expeditionary Healthcare is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Project Manager. The preferred candidate will oversee two radiology units located in Freetown and Kenema, Republic of Sierra Leone.

Assignment Duration: This is a full-time position for one year, with the option to extend up to four years after a positive evaluation.

Job Summary: The Deputy Project Manager (DPM) supports the Advanced Radiology Diagnosis Project (ARDP) and the Project Manager (PM) by overseeing daily project operations, tracking progress, managing risks, coordinating stakeholders, and stepping in as acting lead when needed, ensuring projects stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversees day-to-day project operations and implementation.
• Assists in developing project plans, setting goals, establishing budgets and timelines, and coordinating tasks across teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.
• Tracks project progress, identify delays or issues, maintains risk registers, and provides timely updates to stakeholders.
• Oversees the procurement of materials, manages resources, implements risk mitigation strategies, and prepares contingency plans.
• Mentors junior staff, resolves conflicts, guides coordinators, and leads the project.
• Supports quality assurance, conducts stage gate readiness checks, reviews documents, and ensures compliance with organizational and legal standards.
• Acts as a liaison between project teams, clients, suppliers, and executives to ensure clear and consistent communication.
• Provides strategic oversight across activities at both Connaught and Kenema Government Hospitals.
• Strengthens governance, accountability, and compliance with the Ministry of Health.
• Coordinates multidisciplinary teams across various project locations.
• Enhances program performance through improved monitoring, reporting, and quality assurance.
• Supports financial management, resource planning, and operational efficiency.
• Ensures the timely execution of project deliverables and the mitigation of operational risks.
• Assists in promoting the long-term sustainability and expansion of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) program.
• Provides technical oversight and leadership on the project.
• Ensures the effective management of critical medical and operational equipment across all project sites.
• Develops and executes a business strategy focused on revenue expansion, market penetration, and customer satisfaction.
• Establishes and maintains strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, ensuring long-term engagements.
• Monitors sales progress, reviews contracts for compliance, and manages invoicing and revenue tracking.
• Conducts high-level industry and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.

Education, Experience & Another Requirements:

• Updated CV and valid license to practice
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• At least 3 years of project management experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of project management principles.
• Experience with budgeting and financial management.
• Proficiency in project management software.
• Experience working under risky conditions (e.g. exposure to radiation).
• Understands the handling and maintenance of various imaging equipment.
• Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
• Honest and reliable: displays a high level of integrity.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• This position entails mandatory onsite attendance in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
