Deputy Project Manager

The Deputy Project Manager (DPM) supports the Project Manager throughout the entire project lifecycle—from firm bid through contract close‑out—while developing core project management skills across planning, engineering, procurement, communications, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, deliverable management, scope negotiation, progress reporting, and team coordination. Working under the guidance of the Director of Projects and the PM, the DPM helps ensure all project deliverables are completed on time and within budget, with a strong focus on managing OEM scope for gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems. Project scopes range from single‑equipment supply contracts to full EPC projects involving consortium partnerships and integrated delivery of GTs, STs, generators, and HRSGs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in safely, efficiently, and successfully executing projects by preparing for and participating in major milestones, including turnover from Sales, project kickoffs, vendor kickoffs, and scope, schedule, cost, and resource baselining.
  • Assist with project communication management, contributing to the Project Communication Plan and coordinating internal and external meeting notes, action items, assignments, and deadlines.
  • Monitor project performance by tracking schedule, cost, and deliverable progress against the project baseline; prepare internal updates and develop customer-facing project reports and presentations.
  • Manage OEM scope execution, including progress reporting, issue resolution, official communications, change order processing, back-charge assessments, and alignment with contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with Global Supply Chain to manage OEM purchase orders, invoice approvals, back-charge recovery, claim reimbursement, and closeout activities.
  • Coordinate with OEM factory fulfillment teams on shipping plans, logistics tracking, and critical document requirements to support project delivery.
  • Support project risk management, contributing to the development and maintenance of the Project Risk Register and assisting with risk assessments, mitigation planning, and implementation.
  • Maintain project documentation and records, ensuring accurate distribution, retention, and version control for reports, RAS logs, AWCL feedback, change orders, and related contractual documentation.
  • Participate in integrated schedule development, supporting updates to the integrated master schedule and identifying risks and opportunities through critical path method (CPM) analysis.
  • Assist with change management, helping develop, review, and process change requests or scope modifications to support project financial improvements.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with internal teams, external stakeholders, and customers to ensure alignment and cohesive project execution.
  • Contribute to process improvement by capturing lessons learned, implementing operational excellence initiatives, and supporting continuous improvement within the project management organization.
  • Engage in professional development, expanding skills in project management, leadership, finance, accounting, and business administration.
  • Chair weekly MPW‑A team meetings and issue detailed meeting notes with actions, assignments, and due dates; support weekly external customer and partner meetings in the same manner.
  • Participate in weekly internal stakeholder meetings (e.g., TGO, HTC, HRSG) and manage timely release of MPW‑A notes and action tracking.
  • Draft and manage RAS items to closure, ensuring timely escalation and resolution where required.
  • Administer AWCL feedback, draft related change orders, and support quarterly invoicing reconciliations.
  • Support “recovery” efforts with Supply Chain by preparing for and participating in vendor escalation or problem-resolution meetings, aligning with MDRs and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS policies and procedures, actively reporting unsafe conditions and reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Coordinate with the Project Engineer to ensure accurate capture, review, approval, and distribution of meeting minutes, action items, and follow-up documentation.
  • Support invoice processing, including review and approval of supplier invoices, customer invoices, and payment tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or related field from four-year college or university
  • At least 4 years of related experience.
  • Maintain a valid passport and driver’s license.
  • Proficient in MS Office; familiar with SAP, project scheduling Knowledge of computer-aided design, database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
  • Ability to travel domestically
