Job Description

The Swedish Club is establishing a dedicated Product Team within Underwriting to strengthen product ownership, governance, and technical consistency across underwriting products. We are now seeking a Deputy Product Associate to join the team in a development role.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to build deep product expertise in a specialist marine insurance environment. You will work closely with senior product specialists and contribute actively to product maintenance, documentation, interpretation support, and targeted development initiatives.

The role combines technical work (wordings, contracts and cover questions) with structured product governance (documentation control, IDD, and product governance requirements). Over time, you will grow your responsibilities and ownership within the Product Team’s areas of work.

Key Responsibilities

· Support assigned product areas through drafting, reviewing, and updating Rules, clauses, conditions, and standard product documentation

· Assist with contract, clause, and insurance slip reviews (under guidance from senior colleagues)

· Contribute to technical interpretation work and prepare drafts/responses to cover and wording questions for Underwriting and Claims, within an agreed scope and service model

· Maintain structured documentation control including versioning, change logs, and controlled release administration for product updates

· Support targeted product development initiatives (e.g., ancillary/additional covers) through research, drafting, and implementation documentation

· Prepare learning and communication materials such as presentations, briefings, and guidance notes to support product roll-outs and technical education

· Support IDD-linked product education and testing (planning, materials, attendance records, and follow-up documentation)

· Assist with product governance routines such as annual review planning, update calendars, and coordination of internal inputs as needed

Qualifications and Experience

· Relevant academic background (e.g. law, business, insurance, maritime studies, or similar)

· Strong attention to detail and a structured way of working

· Interest in insurance products, policy wording, and governance

· Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with senior colleagues

· Motivation to learn and build long-term expertise within product and underwriting

About The Swedish Club

The Swedish Club is a leading marine mutual insurer with its head office in Gothenburg, Sweden, and branch offices in some of the world's strategic shipping centres; Oslo, London, Athens, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

The Swedish Club is a mutual, a non-profit-making organisation. Established in 1872, the Club is owned and self-managed and under the direct control of its members. All strategic decisions are taken by a Board of Directors drawn from the members.

Our members make up an international community of front-ranking shipowners who believe that quality comes first.

Every member has met our demanding conditions of entry. These standards cannot be met without total commitment to quality. In return, we provide insurance services of the highest quality; our members' premiums do not subsidise owners operating to lesser standards.

Mutuality means that the Club's interests are identical to the interests of the members. Our mutual aims include the safe and pollution-free operation of vessels.

Naturally, given the nature of shipping, it is impossible to eradicate all accidents. That is why we place such emphasis on service excellence in casualty situations. Our priority is to help the member solve the problem as quickly as possible, ensuring the vessel's swift return to trade.
