We're looking for a Deputy Principal to join the Senior Leadership Team of a well-established secondary school in the Hauraki–North Bay of Plenty area.

The school has beautiful grounds in a peaceful and friendly community. The staff are supportive and welcoming - great banter in the staff room!

This is a permanent, full-time role, beginning in 2027 with plenty of scope to lead, influence and make things happen. You'll have particular responsibility for the senior school, working closely with students, whānau and staff to make sure students are supported to achieve their goals and leave school with a clear sense of where they're heading next.

You'll have a key role in leading the school's senior academic programme, including:

• Leading curriculum, assessment and reporting.
• Overseeing NZQA quality assurance, moderation, liaison and derived-grade examinations.
• Monitoring student achievement and progress towards NCEA and University Entrance.
• Leading academic mentoring and pathway planning for Years 11–13.
• Developing timetables and senior-school schedules and events.
• Supporting and mentoring staff, and contributing to wider school strategy and planning.

But here's the thing... This isn't just a systems-and-paperwork leadership role.

We're looking for:

• Someone who truly enjoys people. Someone who builds trust, communicates openly and can bring calm, thoughtful leadership when things get busy.
• Someone who can see the big picture without losing sight of the individual student sitting in front of them.
• You'll need to be strategic and highly organised, but also relational, culturally responsive and approachable. You'll care about equitable outcomes and believe that every young person deserves to be known, supported and given the opportunity to succeed.

You'll also need:

• Current NZ practising certificate.
• Recent secondary teaching and leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge and experience of NCEA and NZQA quality-assurance requirements.
• Sound understanding of senior secondary pathways.
• Principal's Nominee experience is a bonus!
• Must be living in New Zealand with the right to work.
