Job Description

The DPFSO is responsible for overseeing the overall safety, security, and well-being of all individuals on the island while supporting and enhancing the overall guest experience at one or more Carnival Corporation owned and operated global destination. This role involves managing daily operations and facilities, coordinating activities and staff, ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols, and maintaining effective communication with relevant authorities and stakeholders. The DPFSO also contributes to the implementation of environmental sustainability and conservation initiatives, helping to maintain a safe, welcoming, and environmentally responsible environment. This position reports directly to the PFSO.

Security Operations and Team Management

  • Assist the Designated Port Facility Security Officer (DPFSO) in developing, implementing, and maintaining the Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP).
  • Support daily security operations and ensure adherence to security protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and inspections to identify threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of security measures and ensure compliance with the ISPS Code and local regulations.
  • Respond to security incidents, breaches, or emergencies and implement corrective measures.
  • Assist in investigations, prepare detailed reports, and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including security agencies and law enforcement.
  • Act as a liaison between the DPFSO and security staff, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.

Training, Drills, and Continuous Improvement

  • Support the development and delivery of security training programs and drills for port staff and security personnel.
  • Participate in and help coordinate drills and exercises to ensure readiness.
  • Maintain accurate records of security operations, training, and incident reports.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing compliance documentation and reports.
  • Identify areas for improvement and contribute to enhancing security measures and procedures.

Compliance, Health, and Safety Standards

  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Promote a safe and professional work environment in line with company policies and standards.
  • Uphold HESS (Health, Environment, Safety, and Security) policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional conduct, including dress code, behavior, and guest interaction.
  • Follow all applicable safety and environmental regulations during operations.

Reporting, Facilities, and Maintenance Oversight

  • Complete operational work logs and promptly report issues to the Operations Manager.
  • Assist with managing and maintaining all units and common areas on-site.
  • Report necessary repairs or maintenance needs, particularly those related to safety.
  • Advise management of any employee or security-related challenges as they arise.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Maritime Security, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Deputy Port Facility Security Officer (DPFSO) or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a security role, with experience in port or maritime security preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, maritime security regulations, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to assist in managing security operations, responding to incidents, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Previous work experience preferred.

SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make critical decisions in emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in standard office software and security management systems.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • work effectively in a multi-tasked, fast-paced environment, able to analyze and resolve issues independently and requires strong attention to detail.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and guests.
  • Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment as needed.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data entry and reporting tools.
  • Detail orientated with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically
