We are currently seeking a Deputy Operations Director with business development responsibilities sits at the intersection of operational leadership and growth strategy. This role supports the Operations Director in running the organization efficiently while driving revenue, market expansion, and new business opportunities.

Core Operational Leadership Duties

  • Operational Oversight: Lead and manage day-to-day operations across multiple programs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic plan, quarterly objectives, and long-term goals.
  • Process & Compliance Management: Develop, implement, and monitor operational procedures; ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements; manage audits and corrective actions.
  • Budget & Financial Oversight: Develop, implement, and monitor budgets; forecast, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions to meet fiscal targets.
  • Performance Management: Establish program metrics; use data-driven analysis to improve operations and report impact to leadership.
  • Team Leadership: Build and manage high-performing leadership teams; hire, coach, mentor, and conduct performance reviews; maintain succession plans.

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Market & Opportunity Analysis: Identify and assess market trends, customer needs, and potential new markets or services.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Develop and manage relationships with partners, vendors, and potential clients to expand reach and revenue.
  • Proposal & Sales Support: Prepare and present proposals, pitches, and business plans to secure new contracts, grants, or funding.
  • Revenue Growth Initiatives: Lead or coordinate projects to increase market share or enter new geographic markets. Lead effort to mine task orders on existing contract vehicles.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization to external/internal clients, regulators, and community stakeholders, building trust and credibility.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; master’s degree preferred along with PE, PG or PMP
  • 15+ years of proven experience in operations management, program leadership, and strategic planning
  • Experience in business development, sales, or marketing

Skills & Competencies

  • Make timely, informed decisions balancing operational needs with growth opportunities
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with experience hiring, coaching, and mentoring PM and PgM; familiarity with project management tools
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to balance operational execution with growth initiatives
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders

Compensation

Salary - $170-230k depending on experience and qualifications.

Compensation Details:

$170K - $230K
