Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Deputy Officer in Charge, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £17.85 - £23.56 per hour

The Deputy Officer in Charge supports the management of a Children's Home, ensuring vulnerable children and young people receive high-quality care in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. The role involves assisting with the day-to-day running of the home, leading staff, promoting positive outcomes for young people, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Children's Home.
  • Ensure children and young people receive high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Promote the welfare, safety, independence, and wellbeing of young people.
  • Build positive relationships with families, professionals, and community partners.
  • Supervise, support, and develop staff to maintain high standards of care.

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People).
  • Relevant qualification that meets the requirements for Social Care Wales registration.

Essentials:

  • Proven senior-level experience within a residential childcare setting.
  • Experience managing or supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and related legislation.
  • Understanding of child development and the needs of vulnerable young people.
  • Experience working with behaviour support models of care.
  • Ability to complete assessments and prepare professional reports.
