Purpose of the Job: -

Job Responsibility

Quality Control & Inspection:

• Inspect raw materials, in-process, and finished products for compliance with specifications and standards.

• Conduct dimensional and visual inspections using appropriate tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).

• Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) as required.

Process Monitoring:

• Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.

• Identify deviations and collaborate with production teams to implement corrective actions.

• Review and validate process control documentation.

Product & Process Knowledge :

  • Support in new product development
  • Understanding of Materials grade specification
  • Relevant knowledge on production processes like slitting, cut- to-length, shearing
  • Support in new EPA development
  • Knowledge of Quality systems like - TQM, IRQS
  • New product promotional activity
  • Capturing of new requirement from customer
  • New product mapping
  • Customer engagement through knowledge sharing session, VIU (Value in use), Customer story, Increase of sales on account of new product development.

Safety, Compliance & Standards:

  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies, performing safety audits.
  • Responsible for maintaining desired Quality standards
  • Incumbent should be well versed with TQM practices like 5’S, Kaizen, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements, etc.)
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and quality methodologies.
  • Support internal and external audits, including customer audits.
  • Should be well versed with Metallurgical, Development techniques with help of mill

Continuous Improvement:

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process efficiency.

• Suggest improvements in inspection methods and tools.

• Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards and procedures.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality reports.

• Prepare non-conformance reports (NCRs) and assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.

• Assist in the preparation of quality-related documentation for audits and customer reviews.

Knowledge, skills and experience (Minimum level)

Educational qualifications B.E. / B.Tech. in Metallurgy / Mechanical Relevant experience 4 – 8 years Required Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of steel grades, steel materials and specifications, processing techniques, and quality standards.
  • Proficiency in using measurement tools and conducting inspections.
  • Proficient in Quality Management Systems (QMS) and standards (ISO 9001).
  • Adept in Analytical skills and root cause analysis.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Proficient in documentation and communication
  • Ability to read blueprints, production orders, and technical documents related to steel processing.
  • Proficiency on production management software (SAP or MES systems) and Microsoft Office suite.
