Position Title: Deputy Manager- Strategic Purchase

Department: Supply Chain Management (SCM)

Entity: Endress+Hauser Liquid Analysis Pvt. Ltd.

Location: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Reports To: Head of Operations

Purpose of Role:

The deputy manager- Strategic Purchase will be responsible for developing and managing strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier development, global procurement activities, and cost‑optimization programs for key engineering commodities. The role requires strong expertise in investment casting, forging, injection molding, machining, sheet metal, and subcontracting processes. Candidates must have experience working in a European Manufacturing MNC environment and a solid background in Mechanical Engineering.

Strategic Sourcing & SCM Development

  • Establish and manage robust SCM systems aligned with global standards.
  • Build and maintain a competitive global supplier base across India, Europe, and other regions along the category strategies
  • Align and execute cost‑effective sourcing strategies for long‑term business needs.
  • Lead global sourcing initiatives, vendor development, and capability assessments.

Commodity & Category Management

Responsible for sourcing and managing:

  • Investment Casting
  • Forging
  • Injection Molding
  • Precision Machining
  • Sheet Metal Components
  • Subcontracting (Fabrication, Assembly, etc.)
  • Cables supplier development

Activities include:

  • Conducting make‑or‑buy analysis, cost breakdown analysis, and negotiation.
  • Ensuring supplier capability in terms of quality, delivery, and cost competitiveness.
  • Managing RFQ, RFP, and strategic negotiations.
  • Follow the global processes and governance
  • Coordinate with the global purchase team

Supplier Development & Evaluation

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers (local & global)
  • Conduct supplier audits, technical capability assessment, and risk evaluation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers for quality, cost, and delivery (QCD).
  • Build long‑term supplier partnerships and performance scorecards.

Cost Management & Value Engineering

  • Carry out cost reduction programs through:
    • VA/VE
    • Cost engineering
    • Process optimization
    • Alternate material or process evaluations
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams for cost improvements.

Cross‑Functional & Global Collaboration

Work closely with engineering, quality, planning, and finance teams.

  • Coordinate with global procurement teams, especially in European HQ locations.
  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) and localization projects.
  • Manage technical and commercial documentation as per global standards.

Requirements of position:

Requirements

1. Qualification / Education

  • Mechanical Engineer (B.E./B.Tech mandatory).

2. Working experience

  • 10–15 years of experience in strategic procurement in a Manufacturing OEM MNC (European preferred)
  • Proven experience in commodity purchasing and supplier development.
  • Experience in global sourcing projects is essential.

3. Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes (casting, forging, molding, machining, sheet metal).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier‑relationship skills.
  • Advanced understanding of global sourcing and SCM practices.
  • Proficiency in SAP systems & data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment (experience with European MNC preferred).
