Position Summary
As a
Deputy Manager – Strategic Sourcing (Mechanical)
, you will lead strategic sourcing initiatives for mechanical commodities supporting semiconductor and industrial programs. You will be responsible for supplier strategy, supplier development, cost optimization, localization, supply continuity, and lifecycle management of mechanical components while ensuring quality, delivery, and commercial objectives are achieved.
You will work closely with Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Planning, and global suppliers to build a resilient supply chain that supports New Product Introduction (NPI) and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for mechanical commodities aligned with business objectives.
Lead sourcing activities for electrical panel components, fabricated assemblies, precision machined parts, cable assemblies, and other mechanical commodities.
Identify, evaluate, develop, and qualify domestic and global suppliers to support business growth.
Manage supplier RFQs, commercial negotiations, cost analysis, and contract discussions.
Drive supplier localization initiatives to improve cost competitiveness, reduce lead times, and strengthen supply chain resilience.
Lead cost reduction initiatives through should-cost analysis, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), and alternate sourcing strategies.
Monitor commodity market trends, supplier capacity, raw material pricing, and supply chain risks to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
Collaborate with Engineering and Supplier Quality teams for supplier qualification, PPAP, FAI, and technical approvals.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI), engineering changes, and customer-specific sourcing requirements.
Ensure accurate maintenance of supplier master data, pricing, lead times, and sourcing information in SAP/ERP systems.
Resolve supplier performance issues related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.
Build long-term strategic relationships with key suppliers and drive continuous supplier performance improvement.
Mentor junior sourcing engineers and support cross-functional sourcing initiatives.
Technical Requirements
Preferred Experience
Good understanding of the semiconductor supply chain, global supplier ecosystem, and commodity management.
Experience working in a High Mix – Low Volume (HMLV) manufacturing environment.
Exposure to sourcing for global customers with aggressive cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
Experience in supplier development, localization, and supplier performance management.
Strong commercial negotiation, cost modeling, and contract management skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
Experience

8–12 years
of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management within the Mechanical Industry, or Precision Manufacturing industries.
