Job Description

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Develop, implement, and optimise manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and product quality within the tractor manufacturing division.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including design, production, and quality assurance to ensure smooth process integration and adherence to project timelines.
  • Analyse current manufacturing workflows and identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and waste elimination consistent with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Lead root cause analysis and troubleshoot process issues proactively to minimise downtime and maintain product consistency.
  • Implement and monitor process controls and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to evaluate and select process-related components and materials, ensuring supplier performance meets company expectations on quality and delivery.
  • Manage contract agreements and service level agreements (SLAs) related to process engineering activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Contribute to innovation by exploring new technologies, automation solutions, and sustainability-driven process enhancements that align with Mahindra's leadership competencies.
  • Prepare detailed documentation and reports on process performance, deviations, and improvement initiatives for leadership review.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and team members fostering an environment of continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Maintain a keen understanding of automotive industry trends, competitor processes, and regulatory changes to anticipate shifts and leverage business opportunities.

Education Qualification

Applicants should hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree, preferably specialising in Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited university or institution.

The qualification must demonstrate a strong foundation in engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and mechanical system design relevant to the automotive sector.

Additional certifications or training in process engineering, quality management systems (such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing), or project management are advantageous.

Continuous professional development and commitment to staying abreast with emerging technologies and industry standards are highly valued.

General Experience

The ideal candidate will have between three to five years of practical experience working in manufacturing environments, specifically within the automotive industry.

Experience should include hands-on involvement in process engineering, process optimisation, and implementation of quality assurance practices.

Proven track record in working with cross-functional teams to deliver process improvements that result in measurable enhancements in productivity, cost efficiency, and product reliability.

Experience interfacing with suppliers and managing supplier-related processes including evaluation, selection, and quality compliance is highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability to manage projects effectively, coordinating with various stakeholders and delivering results within agreed timelines.

Critical Experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in process engineering within an automotive manufacturing setting, including familiarity with tractor or heavy vehicle production lines.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with manufacturing standards, quality assurance protocols, and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Experience in supplier assessment and contract management, ensuring high-quality inputs and alignment with business goals.
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision-making through trend analysis, market analysis, and systematic evaluation of process performance.
  • Capability to manage risk responsibly while championing innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proven leadership abilities reflecting Mahindra's leadership competencies such as strategic business orientation, sustainability focus, customer orientation, innovation mindset, and collaborative team development.
  • Experience with process documentation, SOP development, and effective communication within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to apply a global mindset and strategic foresight to anticipate business opportunities and challenges in a competitive market environment.
