About the role
The role focuses on business development and operations management for RLG's reverse logistics and recycling business. The candidate will be responsible for acquiring clients and vendors, managing takeback and scrap-related projects, ensuring compliance, handling client servicing, and coordinating with stakeholders to deliver smooth and profitable operations.
Key Responsibilities –
Revenue Generation & Business Development
- Spotting business opportunities and building business volume by acquiring producers, recyclers, and vendors for RLG India, with a strong focus on takeback services, defective inventory management, scrap liquidation, and metal scrap, thereby building a robust revenue pipeline.
- Driving vendor and recycler onboarding to strengthen sourcing and downstream recovery channels across takeback, scrap, and metal scrap businesses.
- Identifying, qualifying, and securing business opportunities including material sourcing sites, scrap generation points, defective inventory hubs, and takeback channels, and coordinating business development activities.
- Building strong and effective business relationships with current and prospective clients across OEMs, retailers, e-commerce, and institutional clients.
- Contacting potential clients via email or phone to establish rapport and set up meetings for takeback programs, defective liquidation, and scrap monetization opportunities.
- Understanding client needs and offering solutions across reverse logistics, takeback, defective handling, and metal scrap management, including responding to RFPS.
Business Operations Management
- Creating and maintaining a Material Sourcing and Client Database covering takeback sources, defective inventory, scrap generation, and metal scrap streams.
- Conducting client analysis to understand requirements and translating them into customized operational solutions across takeback, scrap, and recycling workflows.
- Preparation of client-wise, vendor-wise, scrap/metal scrap-wise MIS reports and business performance dashboards as required by Corporate Office.
- Managing client service operations including database management, transaction tracking, and material flow visibility.
Regional Compliance & Stake Holder Management
- Managing complete and accurate regional compliance documentation for takeback, e-waste, scrap, and metal scrap operations as per Corporate Office and regulatory mandates.
- Ensuring proper documentation and compliance for vendor/recycler onboarding and material movement.
- Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure traceability, audit readiness, and adherence to EPR/IPR compliance frameworks.
Internal Operations – Client Servicing (Producers and recyclers)
- Managing post-sales / post-onboarding client services including takeback execution, defective inventory handling, scrap disposal, metal scrap coordination, and compliance documentation.
- Maintaining effective client servicing levels by cohesively unifying RLG India service offerings across reverse logistics, recycling, and metal scrap operations.
- Developing, reviewing, and reporting on operations strategy, ensuring client SLAs across takeback, logistics, and recycling are well understood and executed.
- Supporting smooth day-to-day operations including implementation of client-wise processes for takeback logistics, scrap movement, defective handling, and business MIS reporting.
- Ensuring business costs for logistics, recycling, scrap processing, and metal scrap handling are optimized and within agreed budgets across PAN India operations.
- Measuring and maintaining cost efficiency across transport, warehousing, recycling, and transition activities.
- Fostering communication with key stakeholders including recyclers, scrap buyers, metal scrap handlers, and logistics partners, ensuring strong engagement and alignment.
What we need from you
Skills required –
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills — ability to analyze information and drive solutions across takeback, scrap, and metal scrap operations
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Ethical and principled approach with a clear understanding of compliance, business ethics, and regulatory frameworks
- Proactive mindset with vigilance towards compliance risks, operational gaps, and business opportunities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, vendors, and recyclers.
- Strong experience in B2B sales, corporate sales, and client servicing, preferably in waste management, recycling, reverse logistics, scrap, or metal scrap industry
- Proven experience in vendor/recycler onboarding, sourcing network development, and material handling ecosystems
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage multiple business streams.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Candidates from waste management / recycling / scrap / metal scrap industry will be preferred.
