The Deputy Head of Primary School at Reddam House plays a critical role in supporting the Head of Primary School in the leadership and management of the school. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education, and fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.

The Deputy Head of Primary School contributes to the strategic direction of the school, helping to implement policies and programs that align with the school’s mission of providing innovative, holistic, and student-centered education. This role is instrumental in shaping the educational experience of students, supporting staff development, and upholding the values and standards of Reddam House.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Partner with the Head of Primary School to deliver the School’s strategic vision and drive primary excellence.
• Lead continuous improvement using data, research, and best practice in primary education.
• Provide strategic oversight of curriculum delivery, compliance with NESA, and academic innovation.
• Oversee curriculum planning, timetabling, assessment, reporting, and external assessments (e.g. NAPLAN).
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all NESA submissions and regulatory requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate staff, promoting professional excellence, accountability, and growth.
• Support recruitment, induction, and performance development of high‑quality teaching staff.
• Oversee student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and early intervention in collaboration with key staff.
• Manage daily operations, compliance, major events, and act as Acting Head when required.
• Build strong partnerships with parents and represent the School professionally within the wider community.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Extensive experience in education, with a proven track record of leadership in a school setting.
• Strong understanding of the NESA curriculum and educational standards, with the ability to lead curriculum development and review.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and support staff, with a focus on professional growth and instructional excellence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Proven experience in managing student welfare and discipline, with a commitment to creating a positive and supportive school environment
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience in strategic planning and implementation within an educational context.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education or equivalent.
• Postgraduate qualifications in Educational Leadership or a related field are highly desirable.
• Accreditation with NESA (New South Wales Education Standards Authority).
• Valid Working with Children Check.
• Ongoing commitment to professional development and maintaining NESA accreditation.
• Willingness to participate in school events and activities outside of regular school hours as required.
