Job Responsibilities

The Deputy General Manager (DGM) is in charge of steering the strategic direction and operational excellence of the Trade teams he/she is in charge of. He/she is the section leader of the trade team who takes full responsibility and ownership of the overall performance and profitability of the responsible trades.

1. Strategic Leadership and Direction:

  • Elaborate and execute adequate strategies for each trade, focusing on market growth, right cargo-mix and customer-mix, and enhanced financial outcomes.
  • Provide leadership to the trade teams, ensuring strategies are well understood and executed effectively, aligning with the company's objectives, values and strategy.
  • Make decisive rate policy and adjustment decisions, aligning them with the strategic and financial goals of the trades (Budget).
  • Maintain close collaboration and alignment with the Long-Haul General Manager and the Chief Trade Officer.

2. Financial Performance and Strategic Analysis:

  • Responsible for the responsible Trades’ P&L.
  • Based 2026 budget, the LH overall job scope entails all concerned service to achieve a total revenue of $2.74B and a total liftings of 2.28M Teus
  • Use of AI, data analytics and market intelligence to take the best strategic decisions, ensuring the trades services remain competitive and reach a financial outcome which is above the industry average.

3. Operational Excellence and Market Expansion:

  • Lead market expansion efforts, driving customer diversification and exploring new trade lanes.
  • Challenge status-quo and always seek improvement and more efficiency in terms of work process, product setup and customer expectation.
  • Share & drive new ideas of business development (process, market development, new products etc.)

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
  • At least 10-12 years trade management or related experience with a global liner
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
