Job Description

The Turboprop fleet management team has a vacancy for a ground-based Deputy Fleet Manager (DFM).

The successful applicant will join the Turboprop fleet management team to lead a fleet of just over 600 pilots.

This is your opportunity to use your solid leadership, organisation and communication skills to make a significant contribution to the current and future state of the Air New Zealand pilot group.

As a Deputy Fleet Manager - Turboprop, you will be responsible for:

  • The leadership and management of flight crew including day-of-operation functions that include rostering, manpower management, operational integrity and technical decision making.
  • Provide the technical, operational and personnel support necessary for flight crew to operate the Company's aircraft in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provide motivation, guidance and coaching to employees to reinforce individual performance with regard to safety, customer service and adherence to company values, practices and policy.
  • Support the ongoing commercial imperatives of the business by contributing to effective business planning and consequently the management of costs, revenues and outcomes.
  • Actively ensure the safety and security of people, assets, systems and procedures engaged in or associated within your area of responsibility control or influence.
  • Comply with applicable business and industry-specific legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in operational forums, as well as use your operational experience and decision-making skills to create successful business outcomes.
  • Assistance in supporting various portfolios to support our crew

With relevant experience in a complex business environment and proven people management skills, you will play a significant role in the current and future performance and productivity of the Turboprop Pilot group. You will bring strong communication, digital and organisational skills. You will also have strong attention to detail and have experience in keeping a remote team connected.

This role will require you to work from our Auckland Domestic Terminal office, Monday to Friday and will require some flexibility with regards to working hours to provide sufficient coverage and to be available to our pilots.

As this role is ground-based, you are not required to be a pilot to apply for this role (although experience working with pilots/in an airline is preferred).
