The Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service (PPS) was established in 1990 as the first statutorily based independent prosecution service in Canada. The Public Prosecution Service is responsible for all prosecutions and appeals within the jurisdiction of the Attorney General.
With the guiding mission of providing fair and equal treatment in the prosecution of offences, the PPS prosecutes charges laid under the Criminal Code and under Nova Scotia statutes such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The Head Office is in Halifax and there are regional offices located throughout the province.

As Deputy Director, Public Prosecutions, you support the Director of Public Prosecutions in the leadership, administration, and effective operation of Nova Scotia’s independent prosecution service.
This role carries significant legal authority and public interest responsibility. You provide senior advice on complex prosecution matters, support consistent prosecution practices across the province, and help ensure Crown Attorneys have the guidance, tools, and support required to carry out their work fairly and effectively.
The role requires sound judgment, discretion, independence, and credibility across the justice system.

This is a five-year term Governer in Council appointment, with the possibility of extension for an additional five years.

Salary Range:$8,435.50 - $9,347.37 Bi-Weekly
