The Department

Bayside Health is seeking an exceptional payroll leader to join our Finance leadership team as Deputy Director, Payroll Services - Alfred Care Group. This is a rare opportunity to lead payroll operations for one of Australia's most complex and dynamic healthcare environments, supporting thousands of employees across the renowned Alfred Care Group. As the senior payroll authority for the Care Group, you will drive accurate, compliant and sustainable payroll outcomes while leading a high-performing team and shaping the future of payroll service delivery within Bayside Health.

The Role

Reporting to the Director, HRIS, Payroll and Shared Services, Bayside Health, you will have end-to-end accountability for delivering payroll services across the Alfred Care Group. Leading a team of four direct reports, you will oversee payroll operations, governance, compliance, risk management, industrial change implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely pay outcomes
  • Driving payroll governance, risk management and audit readiness
  • Building and developing a high-performing payroll team
  • Leading payroll implementation of Enterprise Agreement changes and workforce reforms
  • Partnering with Finance, People & Culture, HRIS and operational leaders
  • Driving continuous improvement and payroll system optimisation
  • Providing trusted payroll advice to senior executives and stakeholders

We are seeking a strategic and operational leader who brings:

  • Extensive experience leading payroll services within a large, complex and highly regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of industrial instruments, payroll legislation and governance frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience managing payroll risk, compliance and audit activities
  • Proven ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders
  • Experience implementing payroll impacts arising from Enterprise Agreements and organisational change
  • Exceptional communication, leadership and problem-solving capabilities
