Metropolitan College, the largest College of University Studies in Greece and member of Alphabet Education,
in the context of its continuous development, is seeking to enhance its Academic Team, in Virtual Campus, with a:
Deputy Director Academic (DDA) | Virtual Campus
(The position may alternatively be based at one of the College’s physical campuses.)
As the person responsible for supervising all the academic activities of Campus, the Deputy Director Academic (DDA) has a multi-faceted set of roles, including leadership in the learning environment (creating different communities, trusting, collaborating and promoting academic excellence), programs design and development, staffing, evaluation and overall supervision of quality mechanisms within the various departments of the College.
The Deputy Director Academic (DDA) has the responsibility to implement the College's vision and academic strategies and oversees, assesses and evaluates the overall performance of all Departments and academic staff of his/her Campus of responsibility. The Deputy Academic Director is also responsible for the overall co-ordination of the programs with the partner organizations and works closely with the Deans/Heads of Faculties and Program Leaders in place in the Campus of their responsibility. The role will report to the Deputy Principal of Academic Affairs and dotted line to the Campus Director.
Requirements
Role Accountabilities:
• Provides the Campus with academic and professional leadership congruent with the College’s strategic goals, as well as promotes and fosters a culture of academic excellence on campus and at the College.
• Advocates for and takes a prominent role in the development and fulfilment of the College’s Learning and Teaching strategy, while cultivates a feeling of pride, fellowship, and loyalty shared within the community of Heads, Programme Leaders, Tutors and other key staff with teaching and learning responsibilities.
• Liaises with the Deputy Principal Academic Affairs and Dean of Quality to ensure that partner University regulatory frameworks, Codes of Practice, policies and procedures governing undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes are followed.
• Promotes and enhances the quality of the student campus experience and ensures effective implementation of policies pertaining to teaching and learning, while considering the views of students including those put forward by students’ representatives and opinion surveys.
• Encourages creativity and fruitful innovation in teaching that feeds directly into enhancements in student learning and the student experience. Aggregates students’ satisfaction, dropouts and progression of all campus programmes.
• Oversees the implementation of the annual academic calendar to the campus of responsibility
• Expands affiliations with institutions, business and non-profits to further the College’s strategic goals for the campus.
• Collaborates closely with the Campus Director, over the implementation of local campus goals and the development of campus extracurricular activities.
• Supervises the recruitment, development, monitoring, evaluation, retention, and advancement of College’s faculty in coordination with relevant Deans and Program Leaders.
• Leads the induction of new faculty members in coordination with relevant Deans and Program Leaders.
• Provides leadership in e-learning learning strategy to drive pedagogical innovation and optimise the digital student experience.
• Drives the continuous optimisation of the Learning Management System (LMS) and digital infrastructure to ensure a seamless, accessible, and engaging user experience for both faculty and students.
• Oversees the induction of new students to the College and student support services (specific to campus).
• Manages and supports the campus academic team and liaises with Registries/Head of Registries, Admissions Department and Operations Manager for the effective academic operation of the campus.
