Salary Range: $18.74 Hourly

Job Shift: DayJOB SUMMARY: This position provides clerical and customer service support for the operations of the Juvenile Court Clerk’s Office.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Maintains the integrity of case information by performing regular audits of case files to ensure all proper documentation has been filed by attorneys and other parties.
- Provides information and assistance regarding court activities, services, procedures, documentation, fees, case status, and other issues to the general public, attorneys, other courts, and case participants.
- Makes copies, sends and receives faxes, distributes documentation, sorts and distributes incoming mail; stamps and processes received documents; notarizes legal documentation.
- Prepares a variety of court documents, including summons, subpoenas, and notices of hearings; prepares and distributes weekly court dockets and monthly hearing notices.
- Attends court sessions to provide clerical assistance; manages exhibits and records attendance; receives, logs, and secures exhibits and evidences presented in the courtroom; records minutes of court proceedings; enters pleadings, announcements, results, and sentence information for hearings into case management system; assists the Judge with on the bench requests such as preparing orders, drug screens, providing dates for upcoming hearings, and operating virtual hearing programs; prepares the courtroom for hearings.
- Monitors E-File to process filed court documents.
- Receives payments for citations, fees, and fines; records transactions and issues receipts; enters payments into case management system; balances cash drawer and prepares deposits.
- Processes juvenile traffic citations; determines if juvenile qualifies for diversion services; monitors and follows up on diversion conditions and prepares related orders and documentation.
- Processes new dependency, delinquency, or CHINS complaints; prepares orders appointing attorneys, guardians ad litem, and CASAs.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Knowledge of Juvenile Court policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of record retention principles and practices.
- Knowledge of confidentiality guidelines governing juvenile records.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Clerk of Juvenile Court assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include the Official Code of Georgia, the DDS Traffic Manual, the Georgia Court Guide of Statistical Reporting, and county and court policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK:
- The work consists of related clerical and customer service duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide clerical and customer service support for court operations. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of court operations.
CONTACTS:
- Contacts are typically with co-workers, other court personnel, judges, attorneys, guardians ad litem, law enforcement personnel, school system employees, interpreters, community agencies, juveniles, and members of the public.
- Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office.

Qualifications & Benefits
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
