Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Ability to meet the public in a professional, polite, and effective manner. Excellent communication skills are a must. Assisting visitors with questions.
  • Performs clerical duties for the department by typing correspondence and reports.
  • Entering data into the computer.
  • Maintains assigned inventories.
  • Prepares folders; maintains files of department correspondence, managing records, legal documents, etc.; photocopies documents and distributes and/or files.
  • Assisting in court with the Judge during various court hearings.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires High school diploma or GED; supplemented by six (6) months of clerical or administrative support experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Position requires general office and telephone skills.
  • Multi language is helpful.
  • Proficient computer skills using MS Word, WordPerfect, Excel, Outlook, and Internet.
  • Willings to learn, work independently, and be a self-starter.
  • Interested in playing an important role in the judicial system.

Physical Demands:

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, copies, typewriters, calculators, and facsimile machines.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
