We're currently on the hunt for a Planner & Dispatcher to lead the efficient planning, scheduling, and coordination of transport activities for both full and empty containers across New Zealand. The role ensures optimal fleet utilisation, safe operations, and timely service delivery while maintaining strong customer communication and compliance with all legislative and company requirements.

Here is some of what you will be doing:

  • Act as the key operational coordination point for Transam Transport and Container Depot activities during the afternoon shift.
  • Coordinate the movement of full and empty containers between customers, ports, shipping lines, transport providers and depots.
  • Monitor operational activities throughout the shift and make real-time adjustments to transport and container movements as required.
  • Ensure all bookings, job requests and operational instructions are acknowledged and actioned within agreed timeframes.
  • Coordinate with Transport Drivers and contractors to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently and within required service levels.
  • Monitor truck movements, delays, cancellations, rejected units and other operational issues and take appropriate action.
  • Provide clear and timely instructions to drivers, depot teams and transport providers.
  • Coordinate the flow of container movements booked through VBS, maintaining data integrity and adherence to established processes.

Hours of Work:

This role is based in our Panmure location. A minimum of 40 hours a week Monday to Friday between the hours of 3.30pm to 12 midnight, with flexibility to meet operational requirements required.

This is a full-time permanent role based in Auckland. You will have the right to live and work in New Zealand at the time of applying. The successful candidate may be subject to undergo a Police Check and/or Pre-Employment Drug Test.

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • Approximately 3 years' experience in logistics, transport, dispatch, container control, depot operations or a similar operational environment.
  • Experience in transport planning, dispatch or coordination is preferred.
  • Experience working with Transport Management Systems, ContainerChain, VBS or similar systems is preferred.
  • Experience working with drivers, transport providers, depots, ports or shipping lines is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Word & Excel
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused in a fast-paced operational environment.
