Deposit Operations Manager
Location: East Texas (On-site)
Overview
The Deposit Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of centralized deposit functions, including the call center, deposit operations bookkeeping, and document imaging. This role leads a highly tenured team and focuses on operational excellence, process improvement, regulatory compliance, and service quality while maintaining a strong, people-first culture.
This position is a key leadership role within the organization and carries senior-level responsibility for optimizing workflows, improving efficiencies, and partnering with internal stakeholders to modernize back-office operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Lead and oversee all centralized deposit operations, including:
- Call Center operations across two locations
- Deposit operations bookkeeping (ACH, wires, debit cards, returns, exception processing, non-post items, returned mail)
- Document imaging
- Manage and support department managers and supervisors, ensuring teams are properly staffed, trained, and supported.
- Foster a collaborative, stable, and respectful work environment for a highly tenured team.
- Ensure operational continuity while identifying opportunities for improvement and scalability.
Process Improvement & Technology
- Evaluate existing workflows to identify efficiencies and “low-hanging fruit” for improvement.
- Partner with internal automation and technology teams to identify processes suitable for robotic process automation (RPA/bots).
- Act as a business owner for departmental processes, helping define, test, and implement automation solutions.
- Maintain awareness of emerging operational technologies and recommend enhancements where appropriate.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including BSA, CIP, ACH rules, wire regulations, and other deposit-related requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation across applicable operational areas.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure adherence to audit and compliance standards.
Strategy & Financial Management
- Assist senior leadership in developing and implementing deposit operations policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Manage departmental budgets and ensure operations align with financial, strategic, and service goals.
- Participate in cross-functional committees and special projects as assigned.
Culture & Communication
- Serve as a culture carrier who balances innovation with respect for established teams and processes.
- Communicate effectively to gain buy-in for change initiatives without disrupting team morale.
- Promote continuous learning, professional development, and ethical standards across the department.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Broad, hands-on knowledge of deposit operations (not siloed experience).
- Experience managing multi-function back-office teams.
- Strong eye for operational efficiency and process improvement.
- Exposure to or interest in automation/RPA and workflow optimization.
- Proven ability to lead experienced teams with empathy, stability, and credibility.
- Comfortable working on-site and engaging directly with staff daily.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
- 5–7+ years of progressive experience in deposit operations or bank back-office management.
- Prior leadership or management experience strongly preferred.
