Job Description

WECU is seeking a full-time Deposit Account Specialist to join our Contact Center team located in Bellingham, WA This position is responsible for servicing existing deposit accounts, opening and closing consumer and specialty accounts, and reviewing new account applications submitted through digital channels that require additional due diligence prior to final approval. Using effective communication and problem-solving skills, this individual supports member needs, promotes appropriate products and services, and works to retain relationships whenever possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contributes to the organization’s mission statement and goals by providing the highest quality of service – treating each member professionally with warmth, courtesy, and respect – and making a personal effort to ensure members feel valued and supported.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for inbound calls related to deposit account servicing, including deposit account maintenance, deposit account updates, and general inquiries.
  • Opens, maintains, and supports consumer and specialty deposit accounts, including Trust, IRA, HSA, Business, Estate, fiduciary, and entitybased accounts, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and a positive member experience
  • Reviews and finalizes deposit account applications submitted through digital channels that require additional due diligence prior to final approval, including documentation verification and adherence to internal policy and regulatory requirements
  • Processes deposit account closures at member request, using active listening and retention techniques to understand concerns, offer alternatives when appropriate, and preserve the member relationship when possible
  • Maintains working knowledge of deposit account ownership types, structures, and regulatory requirements to support member decisionmaking.
  • Identifies opportunities to deepen member relationships through appropriate referrals and recommendations aligned with member needs.
  • Exercises sound judgment and decision-making skills while adhering to internal policies and procedures.
  • Accurately documents all member interactions, account actions, retention efforts, and due diligence activities in accordance with established standards.
  • Executes member communication through phone, video, email, chat, DocuSign and mail within established guidelines.
  • Consistently achieves goals assigned to the Deposit Account Specialist position for referrals and KPI’s.
  • Actively participates in the Quality Assurance Program and incorporates feedback to continuously improve performance and service delivery.
  • Understands and complies with all security procedures at all times.
  • Follow WECU’s policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may assist team members to support department objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a call center, financial institution, or account servicing role preferred; equivalent service experience may be considered.
  • Experience with account opening, account maintenance, or new account review processes in a financial services environment strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with specialty accounts (Trust, IRA/HSA, Business, Estate, etc.)a plus.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Should effectively present information in one-on-one situations to members, prospective members, and other employees of the credit union.
  • Skilled in software used in credit union such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and DNA.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is from $22.58 to $31.87 per hour.
