SUPERVISOR: Assistant Director of Mobilization
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- This job exists to execute the equipping and provision of pastoral care and provide assignment support for actively deployed incarcerated Field Ministers; and to recruit eligible incarcerated candidates to the Field Minister Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- In direct collaboration with the Assistant Director of Mobilization and/or Director of Prison Programs:
- - Execute the equipping and provision of pastoral care for actively deployed incarcerated Field Ministers.

- - - Assist with preparing current students for deployment readiness.
- - - Regularly communicate with assigned deployed Field Minister Teams via approved NC Dept of Adult Corrections approved channels.
- - - Regularly visit and administer appropriate pastoral care and mentoring to Field Minister Teams (at least monthly in designated state region).
- - - In collaboration with the Mobilization team, communicate and troubleshoot Field Minister and Deployment Facility needs and issues to ensure spiritual, emotional, and job effectiveness resourcing necessary to achieve mission success.
- - - Assist with all logistics and execution related to the annual all-Field Minister Retreats.

- - Provide assignment support for actively deployed incarcerated Field Ministers.

- - - Primary liaison for Field Minister Teams at designated sites, including but not limited to keeping with the state Field Minister Policy and ensuring teams are equipped with the resources to function well in their roles.
- - - Regularly communicate with relevant deployment correctional facility staff.
- - - Assist with identifying recruiting, training, management and communication with of institutionally aligned church and volunteer pastoral and ministerial support.

- - Recruit eligible incarcerated candidates to the Field Minister Program

- - - Actively participate in annual recruiting efforts for the program, particularly at designated sites, and including but not limited to: coordinating and facilitating on-site recruiting sessions, delivering applications, coordinating logistics with any correctional facilities with candidates
- - - Assist with evaluation of program applicants
- - - Assist with onboarding process of new recruits.

OTHER DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Assistant Director of Mobilization in executing all functions and responsibilities related to Deployment and Recruiting.
- Assist the Prison Programs office with operations and events as needed or at the discretion of the Director of Prison Programs.
- Interact with current students in the North Carolina Field Minister program in a pastoral manner as needed, including participation in Prison Programs chapel services.
- Assist as directed with correspondence from incarcerated students, staff, faculty, NC Dept of Adult Corrections and other related entities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate volunteers and churches for the purposes of mentoring, discipleship, and ministry for Field Minister Teams
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- College degree required; theological degree or training preferred (or in progress)
- Previous Christian ministry and/or missions-related experience required (paid or lay)
- Carceral and/or justice-impacted experience desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills required, including a strong sense of personal awareness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required; ability to quickly acclimate to web-based platforms
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Maintain and submit timely expenditure receipts and records in accordance with budget guidelines.
EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT
- Extensive internal contact with Southeastern and Judson College staff and administration.
- Extensive external contact with state corrections facilities and central staff.
- Regular external contact with key partnering organizations.
- Regular external contact with churches, Baptist state convention associations, and volunteers.
- Occasional contact with other external partners and organizations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Extensive driving, walking (inside prison facilities) and semi regularly lifting/carrying supplies for events, retreats, chapels services, etc.
- General health as required for job demands.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
- Must have reliable personal transportation.
- Must be willing to travel to assigned regional state correctional facilities monthly (at a minimum).
- Must be willing to embrace interaction with incarcerated populations inside a carceral setting.
OTHER EXPECTATIONS
- Must affirm and uphold Southeastern’s Confessional Statements and embody institutional core values.
- Meaningful membership of a Southern Baptist Church strongly encouraged.
- Prison Programs staff are expected to be present for and assist with the logistics and execution for all programmatic events and initiatives.

QualificationsThis position requires in-person attendance to effectively perform essential job duties, including on-site collaboration, direct support, and hands-on responsibilities.
