This is a Part Time, Non Permanent Position.

At this time, we have an outstanding opportunity available, as we're looking for the "right person" to serve as Department Services Aide for Facility Rentals with the Community and Library Services Department.

The ideal candidate must possess effective and cooperative communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to relate to a diverse group of people.

Hours worked per week may vary, but include mostly weekend shifts Friday through Sunday.


Temporary/part-time employment is restricted to 1,000 hours within a 12-month period (July 1 - June 30) and does not qualify to receive City benefits, except those required by law. The City does not belong to the Social Security system. However, enrollment in an alternative retirement program is mandatory which requires an employee contribution of 7 1/2% of base earnings to the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS). There are no rights to employment and employment may end with or without cause or advance notice Further restrictions apply to CalPERS retired annuitants.

Examples of duties

  • Provide oversight throughout the duration of an event, assist with trash disposal and maintenance needs, crowd control as required, and noise abatement when necessary.
  • Provide on-site security service for rentals with alcohol, ensuring events are in compliance with all rules and regulations of the alcohol permit.
  • Assumes responsibility to maintain the cleanliness of equipment and facilities.
  • Enforce Community & Library Services policies during facility rentals.
  • Spot cleans floors and restrooms as needed. Empties trash; picks up and removes litter from properties; replaces trash and garbage can liners.
  • Sets up tables and chairs for special events, classes or programs, and performs clean-up duties after the event when necessary.
  • Picks-up and delivers maintenance supplies as instructed.
  • Assists with Specific Events Supervisor on City events on the beach and in the park.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of

  • Customer service, conflict resolution and emergency procedures.

Ability to

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Accept responsibility for the safety and well-being of rental patrons.
  • Make mature decisions.
  • Work on an on-call basis.

Education and Experience A high school diploma or equivalent certificate, and three (3) years of directly related experience with demonstrated technical skills.
